My name is Nick Duncan. I grew up in Laurens, SC. I attended The University of Tennessee and Greenville Technical College. In 1998, I joined the United States Marine Corps Reserves, where I proudly served and built the foundation for my commitment to service and discipline.
Together, my wife and I are raising our family in Boiling Springs, and we are members of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. I have worked at the Sheriff’s Office for nearly a decade. I thoroughly enjoyed my work in investigations but made the difficult decision to resign in order to pursue this campaign, for the betterment of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the community it serves. I am also a proud member of the Constitutional Sheriffs & Peace Officers Association (CSPOA).
I will drastically increase community involvement and transparency with events such as regular town halls, where the community can express their concerns and address any issues with the Sheriffs Office. Community involvement with National Night Out, Community Policing, Charity drives, HOA meetings, Mental Health outreach, and more will be a big asset to our involvement.
I will be a public advocate for the deputies. If you aren’t advocating publicly, then are you truly advocating? Perception is reality.
I will make accessible and encourage mental wellness for the deputies. I will partner with organizations such as Hope Ranch and other mental health professionals to ensure that our deputies are taken care of, so that they are able to mentally provide the best version of themselves for their families, and provide the best service possible to the citizens of Spartanburg County.
I will expand the cold case unit. I will do my best to ensure that the families of these victims receive the justice and closure that they deserve.
I will encourage effective communication and transparency between law enforcement and the community. I will make myself available to the community to answer questions and concerns that they may have.
I will work to better help inmates rehabilitate and better aide recovery. I will make it a priority to slow the revolving door among inmates by aiding in substance abuse treatment.
